We have known about a Mystere IVA that was on display somewhere on the Grand Trunk Road in Punjab for a few years. That aircraft turns out to be Mystere IVa IA-1007 at Jahaaz Chowk in Gurdaspur on the GT Road. Gurdaspur is less than 20 miles from Pathankot Air Base, and it is very likely the source of this Mystere’s origins.

For years IA-1007 was on the ground, fenced off by steel grills. However in the recent past, Sometime after 2014,  the aircraft has been mounted on a concrete pedestal. In the process of this mounting, the aircraft acquired a set of fake car wheels and pipes substituing for the undercarraige .The perspex canop has been replaced by an metal clad piece.

Photograph of the Mystere before it was mounted on the pedestal is below.

View of the aircraft prior to its revamp in post 2014

Dipalay Dey visited the aircraft in early 2018 and captured the following shots of the IA-1007 now mounted on a concrete pedestal in the middle of the roundabout. Now the serial number IA-1007 is under dispute – as per anecdotal evidence, that aircraft was apparently destroyed in a PAF raid during the 1965 War at Pathankot. So what do we have here?
