Amartya Ghosh first reported the presence of a Sukhoi-7 at Indus University in Ahmedabad on Twitter . It was a bit of a surprise to find a new Sukhoi-7 in private hands (much like the MERI college Sukhoi – also reported by Amartya in the past!).
Indus University seems to have a flourishing Aero Department and the Sukhoi 7 is just one of the many airframes in their collection. In addition to the Sukhoi, they happen to have a lear jet, an ex-Indian Airlines Boeing 737 (VT-EGJ) and a couple of light aircraft.
Abhijit Pariyal, who was visiting Ahmedabad, sent us some photos of the aircraft . While the photos give us an update on the condition of this war veteran, it doesn’t shed much light on the aircraft’s identity.
Some of the interior photos reveal some stencil work. “6222” on one of the levers. and “8 12” on a panel elsewhere. I know what you are thinking.. can this be “B812”.. but that id is something we already gave to the Meri College Sukhoi-7 .
