AFS Jorhat, while being the mainstay of the IAF transport operations in the east, lacked proper representation in terms of  a vintage aircraft that represented the transport branch. This was set right sometime in 2017, when the station acquired a Douglas Dakota C-47 from elsewhere.

AFS Jorhat, while being the mainstay of the IAF transport operations in the east, lacked proper representation in terms of  a vintage aircraft that represented the transport branch. This was set right sometime in 2017 when the station acquired a Douglas Dakota C-47 from elsewhere.

The aircraft in question was Dakota HJ922, which for many years was parked at the AFS Belgaum, Karnataka.  HJ922 was the last of the HJ serialed Dakotas and it was  once spotted during a courier flight to the UK. At some point in 2017, the aircraft wasa assembled at the Air Force School grounds within the Jorhat Station.
