Air Force Station at Borjhar, on the outskirts of Guwahati is home to the 19 Wing of the Indian Air Force. One of the premier stations in Eastern Air Command, it is a major transport aircraft base, with a long historical record in the Second World War and the 1971 war with Pakistan.
The airfield is shared with the Gauhati Civil airport, also known as the Gopinath Bordoloi airport. The civil airport is on the eastern part of the airfield, with the Air Force Station on the west. The runway aligned north-south delieneates both areas clearly.
In terms of Warbirds, a pole mounted MiG-21 can be clearly seen on the air force side of the airfield. The aircraft has been identified as MiG-21FL C-734, a veteran of the 1971 war. The aircraft was also known to have served with MOFTU.

What is clearly not seen, but recently discovered was a Gnat airframe that exists at the southern tip of the airfield, just south of the runway. The airframe is tucked away in a corner of the airfield. Rana Paul recently observed the Gnat while flying into Guwhati airfield and provided a photograph of the warbird. The Gnat is likely sporting the canopy of a MiG-21FL!
