Jeet Aerospace Institute on the outskirts of Pune is home to a MiG-21FL C601 displayed on its premises. The death of a young MiG-21 pilot in 2001 resulted in a cascade of events - and one of the outcome being the erection of this aircraft in an institute that was created to help spread awareness about aviation among the youth..

MiG-23BN [SM268] made the journey from Halwara Air Force Station to the Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar in 2007 for permanent display in the campus. The aircraft is a veteran of the Kargil Operations.

Pathankot Air Force Base, despite being one of the oldest and most active airfields of the Indian Air Force has only one warbird preserved. A relatively rare Mystere IVa fighter bomber.

The road opposite Eastern Air Command HQ in Shillong has a divider which is home to a rather low flying MiG-27M Flogger. The aircraft is on the road between the HQ building and the ALG.

Hawker Hunter F.56 [BA335] is preserved at IIT Kharagpur. However this was only the second such warbird the IAF had given to IIT-KGP. And read on about another rare warbird that the IIT KGP let go in the early 90s.

Bell 47 VT-DXE is currently located at the Carver academy of Aviation in Baramati town in Maharashtra. Seen in recent years at 2007 Aero India show, the helicopter was restored to display status by Mr Shrikant Kotnis, a 90 year old RIAF/IAF veteran who was decorated for his service in the 47-48 Kashmir war. Mr. Kotnis has now written an appeal about the helicopter, after trying for years unsuccesfully to keep the helicopter airworthy.
