Iskra W1786 on display
at Hakimpet Air Force Officers Mess. |
December 16, 2004.
In a solemn ceremony
conducted at Air Force Station Hakimpet, the Indian Air Force formally retired the PZL
TS-11 Iskra Jet trainer from Active duty. The ceremony saw the last student-instructer
official flight of the Iskra.
Two days later, an Iskra [W-1741]
was officially handed over to Air Force Academy Dundigal for preservation and display.
It is estimated that as many as 25 of the
Iskra airframes will be dispatched to various corners of the country for either display or
Instructional purposes. It was confirmed that atleast two of the Iskras will be flown to
the Indian Air Force Museum in Palam.
A detailed photo report will appear in www.bharat-rakshak.com soon.
